Ductless Design for Dover's Large, Off-Gas Homes
Dover has almost no natural gas distribution, which means the majority of homes we quote here are heating with propane or oil — and that single fact makes ductless heat pumps the strongest value proposition in our entire service area. Replacing delivered-fuel heating with inverter heat pumps typically cuts heating cost per delivered BTU substantially, and it removes the tank, the delivery scheduling, and the price volatility along with it. The homes themselves are large and often additively built: a Colonial core, a family-room addition, a converted barn or carriage house, a finished lower level, and a primary suite wing. Each of those was likely added with its own heating afterthought. A multi-zone ductless design maps cleanly onto that reality — separate outdoor units serving logical wings rather than one heroic condenser trying to serve a 6,000-square-foot footprint through 90 feet of line set.
